Staying competitive in this very challenging market: The current global economy is driving an ever-changing demand for commodities, and the same time marine terminal operations are being faced with increasing challenges to stay competitive. There is an urgent need for terminals to understand the broadened range and volumes of cargoes to be produced in their respective region and to take the first step in determining the potential commercial opportunities in the near and long terms.

Key Case Studies into the important work being done in the region: Listen to insightful and interesting case studies from Peru and Colombia as TISUR and Barranquilla present at the conference.

The current global economy is driving an ever changing demand for commodities, and the same time marine terminal operations are being faced with increasing challenges to stay competitive. There is an urgent need for terminals to understand the broadened range and volumes of cargoes to be produced in their respective region and to take the first step in determining the potential commercial opportunities in the near and long terms.  An important part of this process is the need to integrate the overall logistics chain from the source to destination into their planning.

CASE STUDY: PORT OF BARRANQUILLA

Colombia’s massive infrastructure investment includes 8,000km of new roads under construction, adapting the Magdalena River to the needs of larger vessels, and 117 projects to revamp the port at Barranquilla, the leading multipurpose port in the Colombian Caribbean.

With the capacity to unload 12,000 metric tons per day of bulk cargo at a rate of 500 metric tons per hour, this session will provide a fascinating insight into how dry and liquid bulk commodities are handled and stored with greater than ever efficiency.
