Against the backdrop of the US trade policy

What are the mega infrastructure projects that will take place across the Americas & who can benefit?

London, 24 August 2018

Maritime logistics executives will meet at TOC Americas in Panama to discuss the prospects for global trade & infrastructure investment

After two decades of dynamic growth and foreign investment into Latin and Central America, many ports in the region have made substantial progress in improving their port infrastructure. The possibilities are therefore limitless, as improvements to infrastructure and connectivity will allow increased trade within the Americas and further opportunities for transport and logistics providers across the Continent.

An in-depth seminar at the TOC Americas conference will bring together port operators from across the region to assess the developments and challenges of the latest projects across the US, Latin America and the Caribbean

Speakers are already confirmed from TC Mariel, Saam, Puerto de Santa Marta, APM Terminals, WSP and Terminal Portuario de Manta. In addition to these speakers, Panama Colon Container Port (PCCP) has recently confirmed their participation at TOC Americas as a sponsor, an exhibitor and as a speaker. PCCP is a subsidiary of Chinese company Shanghai Gorgeous and the development of the port represents the biggest Asian investment in Panama to date. In line with China’s One Belt, One Road global strategy, the plan is to capitalise on the newly increased capacity of the canal.

The 37ha terminal will be designed to handle up to 2.5 MTEU/y, with infrastructure capable of accommodating Panamax, NeoPanamax, Super Post-Panamax and Multi-Purpose Vessels. The project, involves a mighty US$1.1mn investment. Delegates will be updated on this mega infrastructure project and the opportunities this will bring to companies across the Americas.

Talking points in this must-attend seminar at TOC Americas will include

  • Insight into the developments and challenges of infrastructure projects
  • Impact of the new alliances – and implications for regional ports
  • Winners and losers for transhipment hubs across the Continent
  • Where are the emerging ports?
  • Updates on the PCCP $1 billion construction of a new container port in Panama
This important seminar is just one part of the TOC Americas conference, which has two tracks and covers all the key topics in the current transforming shipping landscape.
