Automation & digitalisation: TOC Americas 2019 conference program

The event will take place in Cartagena de Indias at the end of October

Dry Bulk, Container Supply Chain and TECH TOC will be the three main focus points for the nineteenth version of the most important maritime industry event: TOC Americas. After five years, the conference will return to Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, thanks to the support of Grupo Puerto Cartagena.

Automation, digitalisation & standardisation

The CSC container supply chain conference will take a deep look into the prospects for maritime trade: the modernisation of supply chains, the ongoing impact of automation and digitalisation, the effect of new shipping alliances, consolidation and big ships – including the aftermath of the Panama Canal expansion –, and how to manage escalating physical and cyber risks along the supply chain.

CSC delegates will have the chance to explore the challenges and opportunities for cargo owners, container carriers, logistics service providers, ports, terminals and inland operators across the region, with a 360 perspective from leading industry analysts, practitioners, government, NGOs and regulators.

Among the issues to be discussed at the CSC conference, there will be the Business, Trade & Container Outlook for 2019 and Beyond, the Ocean Shipping Outlook 2019, the Digital Future for Supply Chains in the Americas, fusing the Physical & Digital – Next Steps for Maritime & Port Logistics Innovation, and the latest Developments in Port Infrastructure & Investment.

Along with the panoramic overview of the region, there will also be an in-depth look into the local market in Colombia, host country and key player in the commercial trade in the Caribbean.

TECH TOC

The free TECH TOC seminars will take place in the exhibition area where shippers, logistics providers, shipping lines, 3pls, port authorities, terminal operators and technology providers give attendees a 360 experience covering business intelligence, technical expertise, technology development and a high-level of networking.

Sessions will include discussions on clean technology, automation, crane control, successful management of next generation terminals, improved and optimised logistics layouts, simulation and emulation, and the digital drilldown: data, communication and platforms.

Bulk exhibitions and seminars

Maritime bulk transport has had to endure intense volatility during the past year due to the ongoing trade war between the United States and China. “With the Baltic Dry Index at levels not seen since 2014, now the industry must look to build resilience in the face of unexpected political, regulatory or economic events which could shake up the three-year-long upward trend in earnings,” reads the TOC Americas release, in an introductory manner of the current situation that is affecting the bulk industry.

The technology and port sessions are designed to inform and analyze the recent advances in cargo handling technology, transportation, materials handling and port operations, as well as all of the ramifications from the shipping and commodities markets.

Understanding & delivering regulation in the solid bulk sector, intelligent solutions & digitalisation, environmental priorities for the solid bulk sector, workforce & training, as well as improving safety &best practices for the solid bulk sector are some of the topics to be discussed in the Bulk sessions, which will be moderated by the specialist Guilherme Peixoto, Regional Director for South America TBA Group.
