The host Grupo Puerto Cartagena will deliver the keynote address on the first day of presentations. The SPRC will “update the audience on the key developments at the port which is critical to Colombia’s foreign trade and global connectivity, promoting the socio-economic development of the Caribbean region and continuing to grow in importance as a facilitator for Latin business,” as reads the event brochure.
Conference day 1 will continue with the presentation ‘THE BUSINESS, TRADE & CONTAINER OUTLOOK,’ with the participation of Dinesh Sharma, Director at Drewry, Jorge Barnett Lawton, Managing Director at Georgia Tech Supply Chain & Logistics Institute, Ricardo Sánchez, Regional Expert on Infrastructure & Ports ECLAC, and Johan-Paul Verschuure, Technical Director-Maritime WSP. These analysts will brief the public and take them on a tour of today’s geopolitical volatility and increased protectionist policies pose a significant risk to regional and worldwide trade.
‘THE OCEAN SHIPPING UPDATES,’ presentation will follow, assessing the risks and responses across the supply chain against the backdrop of the USA-China trade wars and the imminent IMO 2020 regulations. Speakers include Tiemen Meester, CEO & Managing Director DP World Americas, Lars Ostergaard Nielsen, CEO Latin America & Caribbean Maersk Line, Argelis Moreno de Ducreux, Manager Container Segment Panama Canal and Juan Carlos Croston, President Caribbean Shipping Association.
Maximiliano Casa, CEO & Founder Nowports, Pascal Ollivier, President Maritime Street, Sumitha Sampath, VP of Operations XVELA and Lars Ostergaard Nielsen, CEO Latin America & Caribbean Maersk Line will discuss who are the new disruptive digital players redesigning container supply chains and can the industry unlock the value of digital while safeguarding data privacy, ownership and security? in the DIGITAL FUTURES panel.
Ports, infrastructure and market
On the second day, innovations in port logistics - how to successfully fuse physical and digital infrastructure, will be discussed in the SMARTER PORTS panel with Bill Rooney, VP Strategic Development Kuehne+Nagel, René Puche, President Puerto de Barranquilla and Enno Koll, Head of Latin America PSA.
Rafael Sapina, Business Development Director YILPORT Holding and Andrés Padilla, COO TPM will present the INVESTMENT & INFRASTRUCTURE IN PORTS panel, while Néstor Amador, Managing Director Buenaventura APM Terminals will lead a market briefing on the local market in Colombia.
Day three will focus mainly on the BULK Conference, with panels on THE OUTLOOK FOR THE SOLID BULK SECTOR, UNDERSTANDING AND DELIVERING REGULATION, ENVIRONMENTAL PRIORITIES, INTELLIGENT SOLUTIONS & DIGITALIZATION, WORKFORCE & TRAINING and IMPROVING SAFETY AND BEST PRACTICES.
