Initiative to replace 2020Initiative to replace 2020 version in Lima, Peru, postponed until 2021 due to COVID-19 contingency
We are all fighting COVID-19 with all our might. For some countries the hardest part seems to be over, while others -especially in the Southern Hemisphere- are facing the crudest hours against the coronavirus, recording thousands dead and societies in a stand-still waiting for time to bring hopeful news. In the meantime, we use our digital devices to stay connected with the rest of the world, where phones, tablets and computers have become our windows to the outside. Physical venues, from education to medicine, have migrated to virtual services, and so have conferences and seminars which have taken shape in the form of massive video-streaming. TOC Events has successfully transitioned to TOC Digital with a series of webinars which we have been attending and covering for our readers. But now comes a bolder step towards consolidating virtual presence, and the TOC Americas Virtual Expo will be the first-ever digital TOC Events conference, networking and exhibition.
October 2020 was the date; Lima, Peru, the location. But the South American west-coast country has been hit hard by the coronavirus and the sensible decision was to postpone the much-awaited event until 2021. By now, we all know that postponing physical events is not the end of the world, but likely a noble act of preserving the good health of all those around us. The problem is missing out, and nobody wants that. So that’s where the figure of a Virtual Expo comes in, delivering
all the contents and the digital version of the networking and exhibition experience of a TOC conference. “In light of the ongoing challenges surrounding COVID-19, and after close consultation with industry partners we have made the proactive decision to transition TOC Americas 2020 into a full-scale digital event. TOC Americas Virtual Expo will offer visibility to exhibitors, matchmaking opportunities and a series of webinars all of which will take place on the original show dates of 27 – 29 October 2020,” reads the official press release issued by TOC Events Worldwide.
As per usual, the TOC Americas conference includes a round of presentations discussing the latest trends and the most relevant industry issues, with expert analysis and the participation of the key actors in the regional landscape of maritime trade and the supply chain. The TOC Americas Virtual Expo will follow suit the structure
and contents of the physical gathering, delivering the same quality experience but from the comfort -and safety- of everyone’s home.
Same place, different date
“TOC Americas 2021 will take place in Lima, Peru at the same venue we had originally planned to run the physical event this year,” says Paul Holloway, Event Director, TOC Events Worldwide. All bookings will be transferred directly over to 2021, and exhibitors will keep their booth location and booth number without the need for a new contract.
The TOC Events team is working to establish concrete dates for the 2021 edition of TOC Americas, as it has earned an important place in the regional maritime industry.
