Ammar Kanaan is the CEO of Terminal Investment Limited (TiL), one of the top 10 global investors and operators in the container terminal industry.

TiL is based in Geneva, Switzerland, and is majority owned by MSC, the largest shipping line in the world, along with Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) out of New York, and GIC out of Singapore.

Ammar’s experience in the container terminal industry and in the transportation field in general dates back to 1992, where he worked as a consultant and then as an entrepreneur and investor before taking on the leadership role at TiL in 2018.

Ammar has a masters degree from MiT and an engineering degree from AUB, and is currently living with his family in Geneva.

Prior to joining Sealand-A Maersk Company and CEVA Logistics, Brandon worked for UPS where he began his commercial logistics career over 20 years ago. He was the Vice President of Global Account Sales with responsibility across all business units (US and International Small Package, Contract Logistics and Freight Forwarding). Prior to this role in the United States, Brandon was the Vice President of Sales Enterprise Accounts Asia Pacific Healthcare Sector (APAC), where he was domiciled in Singapore.

Ilya Marotta

Ilya Espino de Marotta began her career at the Panama Canal in 1985. She has more than 30 years of experience on the waterway, having worked in many of the organizations diverse departments. Previous to her appointment as Deputy Administrator, she was Vice-President of Maritime Operations, responsible for Canal transit operations, emergency response, marketing analysis and customer affairs.

As a marine engineer, she is most notably known for her leadership role as Executive Vice President of Engineering in charge of the Panama Canal Expansion Program. Additionally, Ilya oversaw Canal investment projects, construction contracts, purchasing, and the construction of the first bridge spanning the Canals’ Atlantic entrance.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering at Texas A&M University at Galveston, Texas, a masters in Engineering Economics from Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua in Panama City, Panama. Additional academic achievements include Executive Development Programs at INCAE School of Business, and Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She also received Project Manager Certification from the Project Management Institute in 2007.

Ilya Espino de Marotta is the only woman to have risen to such a senior management position in the Panama Canal.

Eduardo Cerdeira graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Nautica in Argentina in 1990, obtaining his degree as Overseas Captain in 1997; in addition, he took a course in Logistics at the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Sao Paulo. In 2019, he obtained a Diploma in Port Management with Merit from Lloyd's Maritime Academy of London.

Eduardo held Nautical Officer positions aboard Merchant Ships until 1998. Later that year, he was summoned to assume as Ship Planner and Operations Coordinator for the Joint Venture JSA and MSC do Brasil in Santos, Brazil. He maintained the abovementioned positions until 2010.

In 2010, he assumed his first position at ports as Planning Manager at the Port of Buenos Aires (DPWorld). In 2012, he was appointed as Operations Manager at Brasil Terminal Portuario (BTP), Santos. In 2015, he took over as Sales Director for South America at NAVIS LLC.

In 2018, he was hired by Yilport to take the position of Operations Manager at the Port of Paita, Peru. In 2020, he accepted the challenge of leading Puerto Bolivar in Ecuador as Terminal Executive Director, a position he holds today.

With 30 years of expertise under his belt, Eduardo has an integrated vision of the Maritime Industry in South America, including Shipping, Ports, and Technology.

Ricardo Arten Gorzelak, Chief Executive Officer of Brasil Terminal Portuário (BTP), has more than 25 years of experience in the port sector.

He was appointed CEO of BTP in May, 2019, and in his current position for this company – a joint venture between Terminal Investment Limited (TiL)and APM Terminals – Ricardo has been successfully leading one of the largest port container terminals of South America.

He is also an active board member of ABRATEC – Brazilian Association of Container Terminals and associate member of Infrastructure Department (DEINFRA) of Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP).

Ricardo Arten previously worked in various leadership positions across port sector, including terminals of Santos, Rio de Janeiro and Itajaí, where he worked for several years had becoming a fundamental enabler of growth for APM Terminals Brazil.

Ricardo is a native of Brazil, married with Eliane and has two sons. He attained a naval engineer degree from the University of São Paulo (USP) and he also holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration. In addition, he has attended several executive leadership programs in Brazil and abroad.

He has been involved in the Intermodal container design and manufacturing industry for 16 years.

Matthew is involved in all aspects of ISG’s projects from customer liaison, design, contract management, construction, and delivery.  
Matthew has helped ISG establish reliable supply chains from the container manufacturing location in China, to customers in every continent over the globe.  

Matthew has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Sydney, in New South Wales, Australia.   Prior to joining ISG, he was involved in the Mining and Defence industries.   Since 2006 Matthew has developed specialised containers for domestic Intermodal logistic operations.    

Matthews experience in these fields has led to ISG becoming the market leader in the design and supply of Intermodal Containers for the transportation of bulk cargos.

Matthew is one of the original founding key people of the Containerised Bulk Handling (CBH) System. He is the inventor of several successful patented products related to this industry.

Before joining the maritime industry, Yannick Lieder worked as a business analyst and project manager in the Procurement Competence Centre at Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg, Germany.

His key responsibilities were the management of international IT projects and the implementation of enhancements and process automation. For example, he introduced an early warning system for operational purchasing to monitor prioritised and delayed parts and take proactive measures.

Since 2022, he has been responsible for the Asset Management Excellence Cluster at HPC. As a product manager, he pursues to develop the best products with the highest quality to serve the customer needs. A tailor-made maintenance strategy for the equipment to ensure smooth operations is one example where Yannick Lieder sets focus on.
