The second day of TOC Americas 2022 got underway with the purpose of shedding light on how the port and maritime sector can embrace carbon emissions reduction without leaving anyone behind or sanctioning actors in the industry who are having difficulty complying with these objectives.
The sustainability day’s keynote “A focus on green legislation,” was moderated by Edmundo Deville, Rear admiral (r) Peruvian Navy and former joint representative IMO for Peru, who led the way for the presentation by Roel Hoenders, Head of Decarbonization and Clean Air IMO.
During the afternoon came the session “Integrating Sustainability in the business,” sharing concepts that have been often dissociated from profitability. However, the increasing need for sustainable terminals and port operations has pushed investors and decision makers to looking at this matter from a different perspective.
Based on this, Lizeth Cárdenas, Co-Founder & Vice President, AMECOMEX Peru moderated the panel where Victor Shieh, Communications Director International Association Ports & Harbors (IAPH); Andrés Padilla, COO, AGUNSA Ecuador/Colombia, Laura Chiuminatto, Deputy Manager Sustainability Terminal Pacífico Sur (TPS) Valparaíso and Miguel Cordano, President, Technical Team Appraisals Peru participated.
