He has an MBA from the Adolfo Ibáñez University, MSc in Ocean Engineering, from Texas A&M University, and BS in Civil Engineering (Hydraulics), from University of Chile.

Mr. Nicolau del Roure opened and was the Business Unit Leader of the M&N Chile office from 2013 to 2016. In 2016 he became Business Development Manager for Latin America, managing client relationships and finding new prospects for M&N in the region.

Ammar Kanaan is the CEO of Terminal Investment Limited (TiL), one of the top 10 global investors and operators in the container terminal industry.

TiL is based in Geneva, Switzerland, and is majority owned by MSC, the largest shipping line in the world, along with Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) out of New York, and GIC out of Singapore.

Ammar’s experience in the container terminal industry and in the transportation field in general dates back to 1992, where he worked as a consultant and then as an entrepreneur and investor before taking on the leadership role at TiL in 2018.

Ammar has a masters degree from MiT and an engineering degree from AUB, and is currently living with his family in Geneva.

Prior to joining Sealand-A Maersk Company and CEVA Logistics, Brandon worked for UPS where he began his commercial logistics career over 20 years ago. He was the Vice President of Global Account Sales with responsibility across all business units (US and International Small Package, Contract Logistics and Freight Forwarding). Prior to this role in the United States, Brandon was the Vice President of Sales Enterprise Accounts Asia Pacific Healthcare Sector (APAC), where he was domiciled in Singapore.

Dinesh joined Drewry in 2008 with a strong operational grounding in shipping and the ports/terminals sector having been a terminal manager at a high-productivity container terminal and prior to that a master mariner serving at sea.

Dinesh has completed engagements with multi-lateral development banks, private investors, terminal operators, and shipping lines on a wide range of advisory assignments for container terminals and general cargo terminals.

Ilya Marotta

Panama Canal

Ilya Espino de Marotta began her career at the Panama Canal in 1985. She has more than 30 years of experience on the waterway, having worked in many of the organizations diverse departments. Previous to her appointment as Deputy Administrator, she was Vice-President of Maritime Operations, responsible for Canal transit operations, emergency response, marketing analysis and customer affairs.

As a marine engineer, she is most notably known for her leadership role as Executive Vice President of Engineering in charge of the Panama Canal Expansion Program. Additionally, Ilya oversaw Canal investment projects, construction contracts, purchasing, and the construction of the first bridge spanning the Canals’ Atlantic entrance.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering at Texas A&M University at Galveston, Texas, a masters in Engineering Economics from Universidad Santa Maria La Antigua in Panama City, Panama. Additional academic achievements include Executive Development Programs at INCAE School of Business, and Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She also received Project Manager Certification from the Project Management Institute in 2007.

Ilya Espino de Marotta is the only woman to have risen to such a senior management position in the Panama Canal.

Eduardo Cerdeira graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Nautica in Argentina in 1990, obtaining his degree as Overseas Captain in 1997; in addition, he took a course in Logistics at the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Sao Paulo. In 2019, he obtained a Diploma in Port Management with Merit from Lloyd's Maritime Academy of London.

Eduardo held Nautical Officer positions aboard Merchant Ships until 1998. Later that year, he was summoned to assume as Ship Planner and Operations Coordinator for the Joint Venture JSA and MSC do Brasil in Santos, Brazil. He maintained the abovementioned positions until 2010.

In 2010, he assumed his first position at ports as Planning Manager at the Port of Buenos Aires (DPWorld). In 2012, he was appointed as Operations Manager at Brasil Terminal Portuario (BTP), Santos. In 2015, he took over as Sales Director for South America at NAVIS LLC.

In 2018, he was hired by Yilport to take the position of Operations Manager at the Port of Paita, Peru. In 2020, he accepted the challenge of leading Puerto Bolivar in Ecuador as Terminal Executive Director, a position he holds today.

With 30 years of expertise under his belt, Eduardo has an integrated vision of the Maritime Industry in South America, including Shipping, Ports, and Technology.

Before working for the Port he worked in the humanitarian aid sector in the Balkans and the Middle East.

Brasil Terminal Portuario (BTP)

Ricardo Arten Gorzelak, Chief Executive Officer of Brasil Terminal Portuário (BTP), has more than 25 years of experience in the port sector.

He was appointed CEO of BTP in May, 2019, and in his current position for this company – a joint venture between Terminal Investment Limited (TiL)and APM Terminals – Ricardo has been successfully leading one of the largest port container terminals of South America.

He is also an active board member of ABRATEC – Brazilian Association of Container Terminals and associate member of Infrastructure Department (DEINFRA) of Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP).

Ricardo Arten previously worked in various leadership positions across port sector, including terminals of Santos, Rio de Janeiro and Itajaí, where he worked for several years had becoming a fundamental enabler of growth for APM Terminals Brazil.

Ricardo is a native of Brazil, married with Eliane and has two sons. He attained a naval engineer degree from the University of São Paulo (USP) and he also holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration. In addition, he has attended several executive leadership programs in Brazil and abroad.

Mr. Joel Shirriff is the Global Practice Leader (GPL) for the Transportation & Logistics engineering and consulting capability within Ausenco, a full-service multi-discipline consulting and EPCM service provider with a focus on the mining and transportation sectors.

He has over 30 years of experience in design, management, and execution of marine bulk terminal and mineral product transportation projects.

Krista Lucenti

Matthew Chalmers is the General Manager and Chief Engineer at Intermodal Solutions Group (ISG).   

He has been involved in the Intermodal container design and manufacturing industry for 16 years.  
Key role with ISG is the development of new container products and the entire project management from start to finish.

Matthew is involved in all aspects of ISG’s projects from customer liaison, design, contract management, construction, and delivery.  
Matthew has helped ISG establish reliable supply chains from the container manufacturing location in China, to customers in every continent over the globe.  

Matthew has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Sydney, in New South Wales, Australia.   Prior to joining ISG, he was involved in the Mining and Defence industries.   Since 2006 Matthew has developed specialised containers for domestic Intermodal logistic operations.    

Matthews experience in these fields has led to ISG becoming the market leader in the design and supply of Intermodal Containers for the transportation of bulk cargos.

Matthew is one of the original founding key people of the Containerised Bulk Handling (CBH) System. He is the inventor of several successful patented products related to this industry. 

Yannick Lieder

Before joining the maritime industry, Yannick Lieder worked as a business analyst and project manager in the Procurement Competence Centre at Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg, Germany.

His key responsibilities were the management of international IT projects and the implementation of enhancements and process automation. For example, he introduced an early warning system for operational purchasing to monitor prioritised and delayed parts and take proactive measures.

Since 2022, he has been responsible for the Asset Management Excellence Cluster at HPC. As a product manager, he pursues to develop the best products with the highest quality to serve the customer needs. A tailor-made maintenance strategy for the equipment to ensure smooth operations is one example where Yannick Lieder sets focus on.

My name is Christopher Saavedra. I am a professional in the area of container terminal automation with more than 10 years of experience in port operations and management.

My experience begins as a military naval officer and then in the management of conventional and automated terminal operations, where I was very involved in the implementation and testing of new technologies.

Before joining the Terminal Design Services team, I held various positions at container terminals. In the last position, he led the improvement and optimization of processes, connecting operational processes with personnel, IT, customs, and customers.

Marcelo M. Goncalves is a Brazilian, living in Panama with a strong background in heavy equipment sales in Latin American, having lived in different places as Venezuela, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Panama and Brazil in the last 20 years, he is passionate about other cultures, people and new ways to innovate in business.  

In recent years he has been very interested in how the new technologies can change the course of the world, and mitigate the impact of human activities in the environment.

Barbara joined HPC in 2020 as an IT strategy consultant, expanding her experience to the European region.

     Bart Vermeer

Mr. Vermeer has an extensive background in project management and business consulting in the marine terminal industry. With more than 20 years of experience in the field, his expertise involves strategic terminal planning, port and terminal development, specifications and performance for automated equipment, as well as operational analysis, terminal optimization and equipment implementation. Mr. Vermeer has guided implementation teams through operational design, procurement, implementation, testing, and quality management. Mr. Vermeer’s work in the field has taken him to project sites throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle-East, Asia, and Africa.

Before joining Moffatt & Nichol, Mr. Vermeer was a project manager of operations at APM Terminals, serving on its Maasvlakte II container terminal development project. He held various positions during a seven-year tenure at European Container Terminals (ECT), including a five-year period as manager of terminal commissioning for the ECT Euromax terminal development project.

Mr. Vermeer is a graduate of the Corporate Program for Management Development at the ESADE Business & Law School in Barcelona. He earned undergraduate degrees in business administration and engineering from the Agricultural University of Applied Science, Delft, the Netherlands.

Andrew Viray

Andrew joined Navis as a PS Consultant in 2013 and has played key lead roles in major go-lives for the GCT Bayonne (New Jersey) semi-automation project,  Long Beach Container Terminals automation project, and recently the Port of Virginia upgrade and expansion project.

His main focus has been on Rail Automation, Semi-Automation, Emulation, System Integration and Yard/Vessel Operations.

He moved into a Sales Engineering role in early 2021 where he has been working with customers to better understand their terminal needs and demonstrate how Octopi, the Navis cloud-based TOS offering, has helped small to midsize terminals improve their operations.

Andrew received his Bachelors from University of Washington in Mechanical Engineering and his Masters in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley.

His long career has allowed him to know several perspectives within the container handling industry: that of OEM and crane design, manufacturing and services during his time at PACECO ESPAÑA, S.A., that of Consultancy and development of terminal and port projects during his time at Maritime Consulting & Management (MCM) and that of the terminal world during his time as head of Terminal Maintenance and Implementation of New Technologies at OPCSA (Operaciones Portuarias Canarias).

As a result, the extensive experience gained in the management of maintenance projects, the integral management of services and guarantees and the development of IIOT (Industrial Internet of Things) methodologies and technologies of Business Intelligence for terminals and their equipment from the perspective of a machinery manufacturer is combined with deep knowledge in the technical management of Maintenance and the implementation of new technologies in Container Terminals.

Aurelio Morales

Mr. Morales has an extensive background in project management, business consulting in IT and digital transformation. For one year ago is responsible for the development of Port Solutions at SICK. With more than 20 years of experience in the Technological arena allows him to analyze and develop security solutions for strategic accounts in the port sector for APM terminals, DP World, and Hutchinson Ports with the right solutions for these important accounts in LATAM.

Mr. Aurelio in his experience could manage Strategic Accounts with a presence in different latitudes across LATAM and now is responsible for the development and support of Mexico, Central America, and Caribe for all the portfolio of SICK Port Solutions. 

Before joining SICK, Mr. Morales was a Strategic Account Manager at Honeywell SPS where he had the opportunity to coordinate teams of Engineering, Field Service, Maintenance contracts, Finance, Marketing, and Logistic to offer and maintain good quality service in all the territories where his clients had a local presence.

Mr. Morales is a graduate of the Universidad Tecnológica de México.
