DP WORLD BUSINESS UPDATES

DP World Celebrates 11 Years of Operation in Brazil

DP World celebrated 11 years of operations in Brazil this July as one of the largest private port terminals in the country. Situated on the left bank of the Port of Santos, the company has invested more than R$3 billion in Brazil since 2013 and is constantly expanding its operations to offer complete logistics solutions to its customers.

For more than a decade, DP World has handled more than 6,000 vessels between container, cellulose and breakbulk cargo, more than 8.7 million TEUs of goods, and over 13 million tons of cellulose. The team has grown to over 2,000 employees and continues to expand its footprint to consolidate DP World’s position as one of the country’s leading end-to-end logistics providers.

To continue our sustainable growth and give more visibility to Brazil's main commercial products, the terminal is currently undergoing expansion and modernization works, with $85 million invested to expand facilities and increase the annual handling capacity from 1.3 million TEUs to 1.7 million TEUs, as well as expanding the quay from 1,100 meters to 1,290 meters.

"In our 11 years of operations, we have many achievements to celebrate in Brazil. We recently announced a new expansion that reflects the Port of Santos' position as a key gateway for trade,” said Fábio Siccherino, CEO of DP World in Brazil. “We have a great advantage in our location - with surplus area and rail access – that provide the opportunity to expand capacity and exploit our multimodality. This gives us the flexibility to develop new projects that will continue to support our cargo diversification strategy and enhance our end-to-end logistics services. This will enable us to better serve our customers while positioning Brazilian products to be more competitive in the global market.”

The terminal has ambitious plans for growth, and recently announced an agreement with Rumo, the country’s leading railway operator, to build a new port terminal for agricultural commodities at the facility in Santos to handle up to 9 million tons of grains and 3.5 million tons of fertilizers. The team is also busy increasing capacity at the port from 1.3 million TEUs to 1.7 million TEUs and is electrifying its RTGs as part of our commitment to reaching net-zero carbon emissions.

DP World Completes $400 million Callao Port Expansion

DP World has completed a major $400 million expansion project at the Port of Callao in Peru, boosting container handling capacity at the south terminal by 80% and solidifying Callao’s position as the key gateway for global trade on the west coast of South America.

The Bicentennial Pier expansion project extends the pier from 650 meters to 1,050 meters, making Callao one of the few ports in South America capable of accommodating three vessels (or two mega-vessels) simultaneously. The project increases handling capacity from 1.5 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) per year to 2.7 million TEUs, while the container yard space has also been expanded to a total of 40 hectares.

Along with the pier extension and container handling, the project will also include the addition of state-of-the-art electric-powered equipment, including 15 electric cranes and 20 electric ITVs (internal transport vehicles). This makes it the first port terminal in the world to acquire a fleet of this magnitude. Additionally, the terminal now hosts the first electric charging station for trucks in Latin America. The 2-megawatt station will support DP World’s fleet of electric ITVs, reducing CO2 emissions by more than 2,000 tons per year and promoting a sustainable energy transition in the Peruvian market.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, said: "The Bicentennial Pier project is a landmark achievement for us in Peru. Our $400 million investment represents our unwavering commitment to supporting the region’s economic growth and solidifying Callao's position as a premier logistics hub, setting a new standard for sustainable port operations in South America. We are proud to contribute to a greener future for Peru and global trade."
